More than just a pretty face...

Hello,

My name is Saber. I used to be the baby of the family and now I am the dog.

My days were nice. I slept all day. I can sleep almost anywhere, couches, beds, blankets, laps, and pillows.

I love to play. In this particular photo, I am playing a little one-on-one tennis with my Uncle Pete.

I always knew that there was something more to this life. I was always looking out...for something more meaningful. Here I am looking out with a friend of mine.

After all, I know I am more than just a pretty face. I can't be placed on a shelf for people to admire. I needed more.

Which is where my story begins. My mom was cooking dinner and I was in the kitchen hoping she might drop something because she usually does. (Sometimes I think she does it on purpose and other times I think she is just clumsy.) So, there I was staring at her every move when something else moved. What was that? Some sort of new game? How fun!

With my tail wagging, I begin to stick my nose as far under the fridge as I can. I sniff the front, the sides and as far in the back as I can. I like this game and I want to win. I start making noises and prancing all around. (I do prance.) So finally my mom gets the hint that there is something going on that needs her attention and when she looks she sees it too.

It was a tiny, little mouse.

Needless to say, I didn't get to win the prize. No one did. We moved the fridge, searched every where for this new toy and finally had to set a trap. This little one is quick. Soooo much faster then the new baby of the house.
Well my dad set a trap and fixed it so I couldn't get to it. I love the smell of peanut butter and if given the chance, I WOULD have risked my nose and face for a taste of yummy.

It has been three whole days. The peanut butter is gone and the mouse is still missing.

Stay tuned to see if I EVER get to play with that new toy!

And the whole point of this story is that I am more than just a pretty face, a warm cuddle bunny, and a good listener.

I am a watch dog. I watched a mouse in the house.
