"Let me"

Drew's way of asking is "let me". I'll tell him to ask and he will say let me.
I will say, Drew you have to say "may I have...please".
And he will say "May I Let me have....please".

So today on the way home from voting, Drew is asking me for something and I ask him how should he ask? I started to say "may I" and Drew stopped me in my tracks.

"No mom, please and thank you. That is all you need."
Hmm...
